Be the bank.

OwnerFi lets you sell your vehicle on monthly payments — to a verified, credit-screened buyer — while you hold the lien on the title. No bank. No dealer. Payments go straight to you, and every transaction is backed by OwnerFi's umbrella coverage.

The OwnerFi promise

If the unexpected happens,
you're covered.

Sellers won't hand over a title on trust alone — and with OwnerFi, they never have to. Every transaction is backed by OwnerFi's blanket umbrella coverage, sitting on top of the buyer's mandatory insurance, purpose-built to protect the seller against the incidentals that traditional private sales leave you exposed to.

Buyer's coverage, always on

Full comprehensive and collision coverage, including theft, verified before closing and re-verified every single week.

Lapse? Covered instantly.

If a buyer's policy ever lapses, protective coverage is placed automatically the moment it's detected — the vehicle is never uninsured.

Umbrella on top

OwnerFi maintains blanket umbrella coverage across the platform as the final layer of seller protection, so a gap never becomes your loss.

Coverage is provided under master policies issued by licensed third-party insurers and is subject to policy terms, conditions, and limits. Full program details are provided to sellers before listing.

The process

Every step verified.
100% Risk Free.

OwnerFi runs the entire transaction in order — a step can't begin until the one before it is confirmed. Here's the journey from listing to lien release.

Offers come with a soft-pull credit check, identity (KYC) verification, and bank verification — presented as a clear risk profile. Negotiate and counter right in the app.

05 / SIGN

Sign the agreement

Approve the buyer and both of you e-sign a state-compliant financing agreement and bill of sale, generated automatically.

06 / PROTECT

Insure, inspect, track

The buyer's full-coverage policy is verified by API. A pre-approved mobile inspector documents the vehicle. A GPS tracker is installed before sale.

07 / CLOSE

Meet at a DMV or title agency. Collect the down payment, transfer the title to the buyer — with you recorded as lienholder.

08 / COLLECT

For sellers

Earn more than a cash sale — with the title as your security

  • Collect the full price plus interest. A note typically returns thousands more than cash.
  • Sell faster — offering payments multiplies your buyer pool.
  • Stay protected — lienholder of record, umbrella coverage, GPS, verified insurance, inspection on file.
  • Manage a portfolio — track every vehicle, buyer, and payment from one dashboard, within your state's annual sale limit.

For buyers

A real path to ownership — without the bank

  • Soft credit check only — applying never dings your score.
  • Deal directly with the owner: inspect it, drive it, negotiate the terms.
  • Fair, capped rates — interest can never exceed your state's legal maximum.
  • The title is yours — registered in your name from day one, lien released at payoff.

Frequently asked questions

What happens if the buyer stops paying?
You hold the lien on the title, which means the vehicle is your collateral. The financing agreement gives you the standard remedies of a secured lender under your state's law — including repossession through a licensed recovery agent, made far easier by the GPS unit on every OwnerFi vehicle. And behind it all sits OwnerFi's umbrella coverage program, built so that a worst case never becomes an uncovered loss. Most notes never get there: every buyer is credit-screened, identity-verified, and bank-verified before you approve them.
What if something goes wrong that isn't the buyer's fault — fraud, theft, a coverage gap?
This is exactly why OwnerFi maintains blanket umbrella coverage across the platform, layered on top of the buyer's mandatory full-coverage policy and automatic lapse placement. The three layers are designed so the vehicle — your collateral — is continuously protected from listing to payoff. Full program terms, conditions, and limits are disclosed to every seller before listing.
Does OwnerFi handle my money?
Never. Buyers pay you directly through a Stripe peer-to-peer payment account set up for your transaction. OwnerFi's 10% fee is routed automatically by Stripe from each payment — we never receive, hold, or disburse funds, and we are not a lender, loan servicer, or payment processor.
Who sets the interest rate?
You do. You choose the rate when you create your listing, guided by live market benchmarks — and the platform automatically caps your selectable rate at the legal maximum for your state, so a compliant rate is the only kind you can offer.
How many vehicles can I sell?
Every state limits how many vehicles a private individual can sell in a 12-month period before dealer licensing is required — commonly five, and as low as three in some states. OwnerFi tracks your completed sales against your state's limit and won't let you list beyond it. Ready to scale past that? We'll point you toward dealer licensure.
Will applying hurt the buyer's credit?
No. OwnerFi uses a soft credit inquiry with the buyer's consent, which does not affect their credit score. The seller sees a standardized risk profile — not the buyer's raw credit report.
What vehicles are eligible?
Passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs with a lien-free title (we verify this by VIN before a vehicle can be listed). Motorcycles, RVs, and boats are on our roadmap once insurance monitoring supports them.

Limited beta

Founding sellers pay nothing.

We're selecting a limited group of beta sellers to complete the first transactions on OwnerFi. Beta sellers get white-glove onboarding, direct access to our team — and our biggest thank-you:

All platform fees waived — for the entire loan term

Select beta users pay no OwnerFi fees on their transaction, not just at signup but for the full duration of the note. Every payment your buyer makes goes to you, 100%.

Have a car, truck, or SUV with a lien-free title? Tell us about it and we'll be in touch.

By submitting, you agree to be contacted about the OwnerFi beta. Beta selection is limited and at OwnerFi's discretion. We never sell your information.
